Contains information pertaining to the following military units and organizations: 9th Illinois Infantry Regiment, 40th U.S. Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Allied Guerrillas. General description of the collection: Deisher-Couch papers include civilian's papers, unpublished manuscript "The Boys of 1898 in Cuba and J.D.'s rags to riches career in Philippines," 1972; Couch recalls service of Deisher and himself in the 9th Illinois during and after the Spanish-American War, letters written by Deisher, 1940, 1941, and 1945 about his service with 40th U.S. Volunteers (1899-1901), his career as a capitalist in Mindanao (1901-1941), his role as head of a band of American and Filipino Guerillas (1941-1945). A letter from his daughter in 1972 referring to her father's service in WWII, his death 1947 and Mosler-Christian turmoil in the Philippines in the 1970s. All letters discuss political and economic conditions in the Philippines and 2 refer to American involvement in WWII.
